About Our School

We have named our school to honor the memory of Delaney Wright, who symbolizes the wonder and promise of childhood. We provide a strong foundation and enriched educational experience for our students. We are process-oriented and tap into all children's sense of curiosity and discovery.

We offer meaningful, developmentally and cognitively appropriate curriculum that sparks children's natural learning styles. Your child's day at Delaney Wright Fine Arts Preschool is full of exploration, hands-on experiences, and fun!

Philosophy

We facilitate learning through a child-centered, whole process approach, while incorporating readiness development in language arts, math, science, physical growth, and social skills. We strive to make the beauty of music, movement, and art accessible to our students to capture their interest and imagination. One of our primary goals is to encourage children to interact with others to learn to express their feelings and needs appropriately.

Children who are socially and emotionally competent, those who are friendly, attentive, and curious are children who are ready to participate in their environment. Our goal is to help the children develop a sense of themselves as unique individuals, while respecting the needs and feelings of others. We emphasize kindness, consideration, and inclusion.

At Delaney Wright Fine Arts Preschool of Hollywood, our community is based on the caring and nurturing of others. We model positive and happy relationships and emphasize kind and inclusive behaviors. Diversity and differences are appreciated.

A child's discovery of and interaction with others is the very basis of his or her connection to the world. When children participate fully in a meaningful and challenging environment, they grow into well-rounded individuals. They become initiators of friendships, problem solvers, inventors, decision makers and hope for the future.

Staff

Our staff is carefully selected based upon education, credentials, and experience.

Our founder, Shelley Acton, has been teaching young children since 1977, in both the public and private sectors, and received her preschool director certification in 1983. She has a Master's Degree, a multiple-subjects teaching credential, a learning-handicapped specialist credential. She is a mother and appreciates the joys and hard work of parenting.

Our teachers are warm, nurturing, and loving. They recognize each child as an individual and strive to meet his/her needs.
